J. Grimmer 1526- 1589 Landscape with a Castle. This item is now sold

Jacob was a Flemish Landscape painter from Antwerp. His rural scenes make a mark in the 16th Century, stepping away from world landscape painting, which shows a much larger and grander depiction of the world and places many had yet to dream of visiting, to a more simplistic and recognizable landscapes of what is near and dear to local communities and settlements at the time, creating a greater sense of authenticity to his artworks.

P. Brueghel 1605 - 1691 Landscape with the fall of Icarus This item is now sold

Pieter 'the elder" was a renowned Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painter, specifically known for his landscapes and daily depiction of 15th century living. Brueghel played a large role in the formative Dutch Golden Age of artistry. The landscape with the fall of Icarus is said to have only survived in copies. The painting depicts a typical rural scene by the water front, however as calm and mundane as the painting displays, one can see a pair of flaying legs in the Ocean just below the ship setting sail. The legs belonging to Icarus, a Greek Deity whom flew too close to the sun, and his wax wings melted, causing him to dive deep into the sea and drown.
