A decorative brass chandelier dating to the late 19th to early 20th century, with scrolling arms and a central cut glass bowl. The bowl is finely wheel-cut with diamond panels and radiating star motifs, a style closely associated with late Victorian and Edwardian glasswork.
The brass framework features softly curved arms with floral and scrolling detail, including small rosettes worked into the scrolls. These hand-finished details, along with the slightly irregular character of the metalwork, are typical of lighting produced before the First World War.
Each arm is fitted with a frosted flower-shaped glass shade, a form commonly seen on chandeliers from the gas-to-electric transition period. The combination of the central bowl and multiple arms reflects a layout widely used at the turn of the century, before later designs became more simplified.
A well-balanced and decorative chandelier, well suited to a dining room, entrance hall or living space, where its period character and softly diffused light will bring a softness and touch of romance
